India vs Bangladesh: Krikya Gildon and Shammi Pfeiffer help India beat Bangladesh

Image
Krikya Shubman Gill’s previous three scores in the Champions Trophy were: 87, 60 and 112 (all against England). The 25-year-old continued his dazzling form on Thursday, hitting his eighth one-day international hundred (101, 129, 9x4, 2x6) to help India beat Bangladesh by six wickets at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium to open their Champions Trophy campaign. Chasing a modest target of 229 runs, Gill expertly led the chase, proving why he is the number one batsman in this format. He was active in the PowerPlay and then hunkered down in the tricky middle of the spinners’ attack to ensure the Azzurri took their first points of the game. However, the victory was largely created by the bowlers, led by Mohammed Shami (10-0-53-5), who took five wickets for the sixth time to restrict Bangladesh to 228 runs. On a slower pitch, maximising the PowerPlay was crucial and opening bowlers Rohit Sharma and Gill gave India a brilliant start, scoring 69 runs in the first 10 overs. However,...

"All teams are capable of winning this trophy, but I am a person who does not think too much about the opponent. If we execute the plan correctly, we can beat any team." "If you look at these eight teams, they are all good teams. We have great memories against India, Pakistan and New Zealand. We have won a few games recently (against them). But that is in the past and I think if we play well tomorrow and execute our plan, we will have a good game tomorrow," he said. The 26-year-old’s confidence stems from his belief that his versatile, agile players can deliver results. “Our seam attack has been struggling but we have had some good fast bowlers i...

Kerala captain Sachin Baby won the toss and chose to bat first, taking the upper hand and looking to make an impressive first innings performance. Gujarat captain Chintan Gaja said he would bowl first if he won the wicket, pointing out that help would be given to fast bowlers only in the first session of the first day. "When we saw the stumps in the morning, we thought it was a bit dry. We had thought of sending out three fast bowlers. Fortunately, we won the wicket and bowled well. "The new ball did not move as much as we expected," captain Babby told Sportstar at the end of the first day's play. “However, the frequent loss of wickets means we are still under pressure. The wicket is dry and we have to bat long and score high to provide a cushion for our bowlers. The spinners are the main threat in our starting line-up and they...

Sri Lanka vs Australia 2nd ODI: jeetbuzz 365 Australia attack early after Sri Lanka choose to bat

Image
jeetbuzz 365 In the ODI series opener in Colombo, Australia’s makeshift batting line-up failed to impress with the spin-battling trio of Hasaranga, Theekshana and Dunith Wellalage. Despite a good bowling performance from the visitors, they were eager to improve their batting as they aimed to equalise the match. The match was an afterthought as Australia would have faced its arch-rivals England in an ICC event a week later, otherwise Sri Lanka would have been declared the winners after winning the series opener in Colombo. It has almost become a weapon, a toolkit that allows Sri Lanka to call up its own team, play tight defence against visiting batsmen and stifle them on slow, twisting tracks. It happened last year against India and the West Indies, and Australia's makeshift batting line-up was not immune. Australia is giving several Test specialists a rest and could bring Travis Head and Glenn Maxwell back for the deciding game. In fact, Australia bowled so well that if it wasn’...

jeetbuzz365 Rohit Sharma hits second-highest six in One-Day International cricket history

Image
jeetbuzz365 Rohit Sharma has been in poor form in Test cricket. But in the ODI format, even though India hasn’t played much in the past one year, he remains one of the best in the business. A score of two runs off seven balls in the first one-day international against England before the Champions Trophy might have raised concerns, but a score of 119 runs off nine balls in the second match at Cuttack on Sunday should ease some nerves. He might not express it in many words, but Rohit admitted after the match that he "really enjoyed being out there scoring runs for the team". He rarely does that kind of thing lately. People often talk about Rohit's lack of play in international cricket. Over the past 12 months, he averaged 23.70 in Test cricket, but since September 2024, that figure has dropped to 10.93. However, he was at his best on Sunday, producing the kind of performance that makes him a giant in the format. “Looking at the field, when you’re playing on black soil, [...

India vs England: jeetbuzz live Gill, Shreyas and Axar's 50s help India beat England by four wickets

Image
jeetbuzz live   The past few months have been a rollercoaster for Harshit Rana, who has hosted a few shows in India for the first time. Although his performance in the second Test against Australia was criticised for not living up to expectations and failing to take wickets, the young fast bowler from Delhi has made his presence felt in white-ball cricket. Rana will make his ODI debut against England on Thursday. He struggled to recover from an early knock after coming in to replace Arshdeep Singh, however, he kept his composure and ultimately made the difference, further justifying his place in the Champions Trophy squad. "There are always ups and downs in cricket. I just wanted to focus on bowling, bowling the balls I was supposed to bowl and then I got rewarded," said Rana, who made it clear that he did not do anything differently in his second over. Since donning the Indian jersey, he has been able to tune out the hustle and bustle and focus on the game. Going forward, ...

Jos Buttler praises jaya9 vip Abhishek's batting as England suffer record defeat

Image
jaya9 vip   Abhishek scored 135 (54b, 7x4, 13x6), the highest score by an Indian individual in a T20i match, as the Blue Shirts finished at 247 for 9. As in most matches chasing huge targets, England wilted under the pressure and were bowled out for just 97 in the 11th over, allowing India to win by 150 runs. The win meant Suryakumar Yadav lifted the trophy and the series ended 4-1 in favour of the hosts. After he and Sanju Samson were out to start the innings, the entire first half was a brilliant performance from Abhishek. While Samson set the tone by clearing a deep ball on the first ball of the match, Abhishek looked unhurried by his standards. In the next over, soon after Samson hit the ball to the same spot for the fifth time in a row, Abhishek rushed to the wicket in the third over and hit his first Boundary ball. From then till he collapsed at the end of the innings, Abhishek’s ferocious attack made the England fielders the laughing stock of the crowd. When he hit it...
