Champions Trophy 2025: Jeetbuzz We can beat any team in this tournament, says Bangladesh captain Shanto

Jeetbuzz Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto believes his side has a balanced squad that can challenge top teams in the Champions Trophy.

“If you look at this format, we are a fairly balanced team and we believe we can beat any team in this tournament,” said Shatto on the eve of the team’s first match against India.

"All teams are capable of winning this trophy, but I am a person who does not think too much about the opponent. If we execute the plan correctly, we can beat any team."

"If you look at these eight teams, they are all good teams. We have great memories against India, Pakistan and New Zealand. We have won a few games recently (against them). But that is in the past and I think if we play well tomorrow and execute our plan, we will have a good game tomorrow," he said.

The 26-year-old’s confidence stems from his belief that his versatile, agile players can deliver results.

“Our seam attack has been struggling but we have had some good fast bowlers in the last few years. Naheed Rana and Taskin (Ahmed), I think the way they bowl has helped. As captains, we like to see bowlers bowling fast. So, I am happy that we have a good fast bowling squad and the ball is likely to swing under the lights.

The captain was also happy to see fast bowlers like Naheed Rana helping boost the team's morale.

"I think over the last few games he's been throwing really good and with a lot of velocity. When we see him throwing like that, it helps our entire pitching staff and motivates us on how to challenge opponents. But I hope he can stay healthy and continue to pitch like he's doing now," he said.
